Public Display of AMVs
I have a few questions about the legality of showing AMVs to the public in a retail setting. I work at Radio Shack, aka Hell, and my boss asked if I knew anything about computers. I told him that I had used mine to make a couple of anime music videos at one time. He was interested in them and asked me to bring them in. Now he wants me to have them showing on all our TV screens For 8 hours straight. First off I've only made 5 Videos of which only 3 or 4 I would want to show. Secondly Is showing AMVs to the public even legal?
So if it is legal, anyone who would like thier AMVs shown please e-mail me or leave a reply here I will try to get as many as I can. Please no nudity or Ultra Violence.

Well, there goes all of the Globocide videos... And Pork Sausage...
If I make a vid that isn't ultra violent, I'd be glad to let you show it, but that's not going to happen any time soon...

Re: Public Display of AMVs
It's *technically* illegal, but in the grey-area of illegality that means you probably shouldn't worry.InvaderBen wrote:I have a few questions about the legality of showing AMVs to the public in a retail setting. You're free to show any of my vids (I'd prefer you use SYLN and CAA and maybe Warning), as well as the Children Project.

i wouldnt think so about the music i mean stores do them all the time id think as long as radio shack in general is allowed to use the music then it shouldnt be too illegal to show the movies that you yourself made and hold copyright (well then again noone has copyrighted any of their work except a few people but still) and rights to

Ah that's better.RiderX should have wrote:I wouldn't think so. I mean, stores play music all the time. We don't own the copyrights on our videos.
May I refer you to a few threads on the legality of AMV's before another thread on it is posted?
