This is my very first shot at 3 things.
1.) A romance amv
2.) lip synching on any kind.
3.) Making an amv with substance of any kind
I found this amv surprisingly difficult to make. Since I'm used to making fast paced action amv's this one really got me stumped in a few places. My main problem was finding a general flow I could follow to get from start to finish. Another aspect I thought was difficult was finding the right clips to use. There's so much fmv footage out there, but only a handfull of the bunch was just what I was looking for (more or less).
And last but not least the lip synching. I'm not sure whether or not lip synching an anime 2-d character to a song is easier to do than lip synching a 3-d anime character, but this was another hard part of the project and it's what I tried to focus on the most despite how little singing Yuna actually does. It's funny actually. She does'nt have a whole lot of clips where she's singing, but I think there's just enough to remind you that she is in the first place. It's kind of hard to explain but I think I spaced it out pretty good for the most part. If you watch it, you'll see.
I apologize in advance for the low quality FF9, and FFX clips. It just so happens that I did'nt bring those games with me to college so I had to find the clips on the internet. And when your finding fmv's over the internet....well.....beggars can't be choosers. Though despite this, I'm sure the majority of you, will find the music video as a whole to be more than ok in terms of quality. I did the best with what I had to work with.
This music video is a learning experience for me. Therefore, I don't expect this to be one of my best amv's on this site. But I'd still appreciate all commentary I can get. It would be nice to know if I should take my amv making in a new direction for awhile, or if I should just quit making romance amv's right this second and go back to making action amv's instead. My main goal is to get the viewer to say "aww, that was cute". But I can certainly understand it if you don't feel that way as well. Afterall, this kind of stuff is not for everyone.
Though this is a 5 minute amv, it actually has 5 parts to it. The intro, the ff8 segment, the ff9 segment, the ffx/x-2 segment, and the finale where 8,9, and 10 are used. You may notice I did'nt give to much time to the ffx segment. If you wonder why, it's because I felt I did'nt need to. Yuna is basically narrarating the entire amv. This includs the relationships between Squall&Rinoa, Zidane&Dagger, and Tidus&herself. Her segment is more of a flashback to further match the song. Where as I had to set up the scenarios somewhat for the ff8 and ff9 segments, Yuna already sets up the ffx segment just by singing the song. Your opinion may differ, but this is what I had in mind.
Lastly, bare in mind, I was not trying to match the clips in the amv word for word with the lyrics. I was trying to match the clips with the overall message of the song instead. That was the goal. Whether I succeeded or not is up to you the viewer. Hopefully not everything will only make sense to just me.
