A scream in the night, and in that instant the world changed ... or at least, it appeared to. There have always been forces in the world and voices in the night: some friendly and other malevolent. Invisible until summoned; they slide through dimensions as people walk through doorways. They wait, and watch the doings of Man closely ... each for their own reasons. Sometimes, they appear ... and when they do, the world changes.
Something's seriously messed up here. That's the feeling you're going to get after you watch three differnet types of reality flash before your eyes. If you make it through the three realities, you're going to be sitting there wondering what the hell it was you just saw.
This Boogiepop Phantom music video is very carefully layered. Realities are shown very much with a sense of purpose. Each of the realities in this anime music video are basically singular stories about particular characters and their interactions with something supernatural or ironic in their lives. And these individual stories are quite layered, as they move back and forth in the characters lives, dealing with events from their junior high days up through their high school days which include tragedies and murders.
Everyone knows only one thing, the reality that they themselves live in. People tell each other the stories and laugh: no one believes the existence of alternate realities. Still, there are some strange things that appear to be going on just below the surface. Darkness takes many forms, though. Evil and good intermingle. The glass shatters. Time stands still. There is something in the darkness.
Reality 1 : Perfect Day
This reality has alot of irony in it. The music playing is by Lou Reed called Perfect Day. Yet while one watches what is happening in that reality, you wonder what a prefect day really is? Is it a perfect day of happiness? Or a perfect day of sorrow?
Reality 2 : Come to Daddy
There have been hints to the truth - pieces of the whole scattered throughout time and space. But what is the myth and what reality? Do not wory about reality. Daddy will come and take you away from this place. Daddy will make everything ok.
Reality 3 : Undying
In this enlightened age, few even believe that a serial killer can exist; he?s used as an urban myth used to frighten the ignorant. But where urban myths end, reality takes up. Five years ago a serial killer held the city in fear, slashing and murdering seemingly at random. With the police totally clueless and the public held in the grips of terror, the grisly murders simply?ended.
In the end, this Boogiepop Phantom music video is a show where almost anythign can happen at any given time. This is a music video that's got an amazing amount of depth and planning to it, the kind where it makes the "mainstream deep" type of music video look out of date. I certainly put a lot of love and mostly hatred for that matter into it. I did make this video after a very bad break-up with my last girlfriend. I hope most of you who download it are intent on getting a serious second look at this music video (in case you didn't get it the first time around) to try and and see what kinda of reality we all live in.
