This is my second video to make it into the AX AMV contest, and the first one to actually be shown in the contest (mine was the one they forgot in 04). Anyway, I ended up winning the AMV Mailing List Choice Award with it, so that is pretty cool.
On to the video. One of the few, at this writing, to use the great Satoshi Kon series Paranoia Agent, exclusively. The song is I Am The Killer by the band Thursday off of their Full Collapse on Impact album. The video came about one day when I was driving in my car and listening to the album. When this song came up I began to think about PA because at that point I had the first three DVD's and the fourth was about to be released. While thinking about the show and listening to the song, I began to notice that the song shared some similar themes with the show, and I began to think, "hey, this would make a pretty cool video, if the last several episodes are good." So I waited until I saw the ending and realized that this will work.
So I had my buddy rip and render the source because my laptop was on its last legs, then I recieved them and began editing. It took me about 12 hours over 4 days. It didn't take long because the style was rather simple, but I also knew pretty much where everything was going to go because I had been thinking of nothing but for the month previous.
I finished up about a week before the deadline and sent it in. I was on the forums and part of that waiting that some should remember. Anyway, fast forward to the first day of the Con and getting my tickets and Katie told me that she enjoyed my video and totally recognized my style, which I didn't even know I had at the time, which is kind of cool. Now the contest itself, it was the first video played, Katie said this was to wake people up. The only problem was from where I was sitting the sound system was in mono. At certain parts the sound is supposed to come out left speaker, right speaker, left, right, but I only heard the right. (If anyone sitting middle or back tell me if it did sound right, tell me please). I am bummed too because I missed the chance to go on stage to get my award, but I got a Menchi plushie so there is good with the bad.
There are a few things I am not happy with. The biggest was when you see the lady laying in the street, I don't like the timing and the next scene comes in too late, doesn't look good to me.
Made this with Adobe Premiere Pro on a now defunct Dell Inspiron 5500. Enjoy, watch the show, and leave a comment, good or bad, Whatever.
P.S. in my opinion if a video gets you to watch the source show, it was successful, no matter what.
P.P.S. For some reason it won't work in my computer with VLC media Player but the Windows Media Player works just fine.
