Yes, it seems I have become a complete patriot.
The title is german and translated it reads "Girl" (pretty simple, eh?) and the
song title means "When she's crying". This time I can really be sure that you
won't need to understand the lyrics of the song because it's all about the main
idea or the main concept of this video.
What I wanted to achieve here was to extract the drama from this very episode
of the anime. Yeah, it's just one episode, I didn't use anything else. It's the episode
in which Ranma gets hit on the head and starts believing he's a girl. Yeah, you're right
- this has been used quite a lot. But I thought it would be a good idea to try and
eleminate the parody and the slapstick of this whole episode and make it look like
it's serious and dramatic. So I had to close a lot of mouths since they're talking and
talking all the time in this anime series. I had to play around with the saturation and
color settings as well as blurs to get a more dramatic atmosphere out of the footage
as well. In the end you can see how it looks in it's original forms.
As for the action synch I thought about effects and how to get the beats done but
nothing really seemed to be looking good. That's why I once again decided it to be
simple fades and simple editing. I tried to go along with the background flow and the
vocals if anyone notices that besides myself - I would have gone crazy trying to synch
the foreground beats. And even if it seems I'm just saying this because I couldn't do it
I think that this way of synching was better for creating the more dramatic feeling of the video.
The video tells the story of the relationship between Akane and Girl-Ranma. It shows
everything from the beginning to the end. That's why it's a kind of Character Profile
as well. Maybe not much about Akane, but there's enough about Ranchan.
Video Quality was something I spend more time on than usual. I wanted to get you
a small size file since a lot of the end is for germans only (some little gimmicks) and
it wouldn't have been nice of me to let you download a 90mb file where 20% is stuff you
can't understand. Still I had run some filters through VDub and AVS to at least keep some
of the quality. The orignal DVDs are german - they suck. As said before I tried to get
the best out of them.
