Yep, it's a 1 min 25 second mini-vid. ^-^
This video is a little out of the ordinary.
...or at least, it was made under very particular circumstances.
In Feb 2002 I was asked to help out on the AMV panel at the UK anime convention Minami 8. As preparation for this I decided to make a very quick video that I could recreate parts of at the convention to demonstrate how videos are made.
The idea was to make the vid and keep saving the project as I was going. I could then start making the vid at the con, show the technique and say "and when you've done that, the scene will look like this" and load the next project file. I think it was a pretty good idea.
However, this means that if it wasn't for this panel, this video would never have been made... I had to find the shortest useable song I could and make an amv. I also had to make this in a hurry (it's an afternoon's work) so it doesn't have the grand scale of most videos.
I also had to force in several amv-making elements that probably wouldn't have been there otherwise: The aged-film-type effect and the lip-synchs were added for demonstration purpopses, but I think they just about work.
So, this video was made to demonstrate: lip-synch, effect filters, fades, action synch and general Adobe Premier use.
All in all, considering it was made on demand, I think it's come out pretty well.
The footage was all taken directly from the FLCL DVDs and the encode is the best quality that divx can allow, which is good to know. There is a pretty good looking mpg as well.
The uses footage from episodes 1,3,4 and 6 and as a result is probably a minor spoiler.
As it's a character profile, you probably wont appreciate this video unless you have seen ep 6 of FLCL simply because the relationship described in the vid isn't really fleshed out until then.
Anyway, much mushyness ensues. I hope you like the video. It's not what I'd call my masterpiece but I'm fairly happy with it.
There are a couple of things that keep niggling at me - one of the clips used in the outside-world montage and some of the overlaid clips. Meh, it's alright - I'm not doing any more work on it, it's just for a bloomin' panel ^^
(watch me change it around in a few days :P)
P.S. The title is a pun on two songs by The Pillows that are featured on the 1st FLCL soundtrack - "Instant Music" and "Blues Drive Monster".
