  • Comments: WARNING:THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SCENES OF EXTREME BLOODYNESS, VIOLENCE & BRIEF MOMENTS OF NUDITY. YOUNGER WATCHERS...CAUTION ADVISED!

Contests/Awards: Disqualified due to excesive content in both, but was screened in overflow.

Quick Notes: Well, what to say? This is one of those videos that when you first hear the song you absolutely know how will every little part of it look. Berserk came as an obvious choice for this song cause the lyrics are just to perfect. Even though the vid really does contain violent and a little morbid scenes (trust me some will disturb you :P) this is a 100% pure character profile vid. The whole video is concentrated arround Gatz, the black swordsman and a very strong man, who although comes arround as a really tough individual, has his own inner demons, conflicts, worries and tragedies. The way I approached this video is not only to portrait him as my favourite anime character of all time, but also to do justice to one of my favourite singers...Bruce Dickinson. All the power and emotion Bruce achieves while singing could only be shown through Gatz. I couldn't imagine any other character take the main roll for this video.

    Premiere pandemonium: #$%^&*$#@@!#$^&

How to approach it: The way I thought about it is that first time you watch, you completely follow the lyrics. This way, even the viewers that don't know the show will understand it. Note how I implemented the relation between Grifith and Gatz, but still kept Gatz the main hero (in almost all of the videos that I watched Grifith is shown much more even though the video was meant to be about Gatz) and Kaska too, but Kaska isn't shown at all till the end when her role gets much more important. Now, the next few times you watch it you can approach it differently and follow the timing. The video, simply speaking, builds itself up as the time passes by. All the best is left for the ending ^.~. So, watch and I hope you'll somehow get all the messages.

Here, in a church, a small boy is kneeling
He prays to a God...he does not know, he cannot feel
All of his sins of childhood he will remember
He will not cry, tears he will not cry

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
Man of sorrows, you lived without a trace
This small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?

Vision of a new world from the ashes of the old
"Do what thou wilt!", he screams from his cursed soul
A tortured seer, a prophet of our emptiness
    Wondering why, wondering why...

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
    (I won't see your face)
Man of sorrows, you lived without a trace
This small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?

    A man of sorrows, wrecked
With thoughts that dare not speak their name
Trapped inside a body, made to feel only guilt and shame
His anger all his life - "I hate myself!", he cried
    "Do what thou wilt!"
"Do what thou wilt!", he cried

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
    (I won't see your face)
Man of sorrows, you lived without a trace
    (lived without a trace)
This small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
    (I won't see your face)
Man of sorrows, you lived without a trace
    (lived without a trace)
His small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?
    Has it just begun?

    Programs used:

Adobe Premiere 6.5 - The whole video was done in it. Of course, I don't count smaller ones like DVD2AVI or Virtual Dub. You need to have either DivX or Xvid installed since this is the Xvid encode with the Divx source code. You can get either from:

    Have fun. :P
