    Making the Video:
    ----------------------------------
This video was a number of firsts for me. It was the first time I did DVD rips (and a sucky job with them I may add but more on that later...), the first time I did an action vid, and the first time I didn't use a story (which was one of my original goals as an AMV creator - to make some asskicking story videos.)

I said in the comments originally on animemusicvideos.org that I thought this was put together in under a week. Digging through the archive files (am I the only person who keeps all their old edit files?) I've got rough cuts in here that date on June 4 and June 13, so it looks like it was closer to two weeks to edit.

Either way, I got the idea for this one becuase like everyone else at the time, I was majorly obsessed with Lain and had picked it all up on DVD (my first anime DVD's actually....my first regular DVD was, ironically, Pi.) I loved this song and after watching Lain through on the DVD's thought the two would go together well. Turns out they did.

A lot of the style for this was in backlash to the Galactic video - lots of loose cuts, a couple minor effects (some overlay bits) but still adhering to the belief that simple can be good. Damn good. I've also decided to pass off my poor encoding as an effect - Lain has so much funky digital stuff in it that a little pixellation can be seen as adding to the distortion of Lain's world.

    Factoid:
The rough cut included as an extra is actually a larger file than the final edition. It also has 30 seconds of black at the end for some unknown reason.

    Factoid:
I actually tried to go back and redo parts of this video over Summer 2001, but Premiere was being impossible to work with that day and I wasn't able to save anything that had been changed - most of what got fixed was with the chase sequence at the end, using more consecutive clips, but faster cuts.

    What's this Video About?
    ----------------------------------
    Lain. Freakiness. 'Nuff Said =)

    Commentary and Notes:
    ----------------------------------
I like this video a lot. It's an oldie, but a goodie and the first project that I officially retired on animemusicvideos.org for reaching ten comments left on it. While this video doesn't have the story I wanted my videos originally to have, I do consider this to be a good emotion video - ones that make you feel one specific thing. It's a brilliant deduction that came from the regular reply to this video of "Wow, that was freaky." I've actually thought, upon reflection, that all of my vids are emotion vids. The LoGH vid is one for longing (be it for old times or the video to end), the Eva video crisis, this one freakiness, and so on.

I'm also glad to say that the final edition of this video is just on the upside of acceptable for an instrumental vid's attention span in my book (officially tagged as 2 min 30 seconds...) but no one seems to complain that it goes too long.

    Song Lyrics:

None! This is an instrumental video!!
