  • Comments: There were some restrictions on source to be considered when it was time to chop up Shin Hatsubai video #88, which is why it ended up being this instead of something jesting with the numerical designation. All in all, this is a good thing; the world doesn't really need any Day of the Sword videos.

Any credit for the effects in this video should probably go to Sir Lagsalot, who developed the filter used to strip out all the animation painting. This required very little effort on my part, but produced a neat overall effect. The music involved is a slightly edited version (a bunch of electro stuff at the start is stripped out) of the interlude between "Touch of Red" and "Like You Better Dead" on In Flames' 2004 release _Soundtrack To Your Escape_. It's stored in track 4 rather than track 5, and so is credited to "Touch of Red".

The only way this video could spoil any part of Munto is if you'd already seen the (quite obscure) anime in question. The events used do not represent the main thrust of the plot of the anime, none of the main characters appear at all, and the munging of the picture is so severe that any potential context is probably entirely lost.

The video, in the end, is abstract as per the best tradition of non-performance videography: it's about a boy, a girl, and a river, and any connotations or meanings are left entirely to the audience.

Shin Hats Self Grade: A-. It does what it's meant to do, and clears out when it's done.
