- Evanescence Bring Me To Life
Note: This is uploaded as was entered into the contest, so there is 10 seconds of black space before the video starts.
This is a video using mostly Hibiki footage from the anime series Vandread. The theme, as I saw it, behind the Evanescence song "Bring me To Life" was an awakening of the mind - a change in the way you think, act, or deal with the situations around you. Vandread and Vandread: Second Stage are good examples of a story where the characters changed how they thought about things (like men vs. women, loneliness, death, or sadness). Hibiki Tokai is a principle character in enacting that kind of change, so that's why I've used mostly him in the video.
There are of course the obligatory bunch of action shots to go with the fast tone of the music, but I did try to depict how certain characters changed or, for lack of a better term, "broight themselves to life" by what they said or did. Vandread fans will notice some of the most significant moments in the series, although at the time of creation, the last Second Stage DVD was not out, so I am missing footage of that.
I plan on re-doing this video some day. I'm not satisfied with some of the shots, and the resolution is kinda blah on full screen. I'd also like to incorporate the missing footage and add more timing effects to the video.
I was quite surprised when this video won Best Staff Video at Anime Central 2003, and because of that I'm even more motivated to repost a more recent version in the future.
