Scrapped Princess is an excellent example of a well-drawn, well-plotted, enjoyable anime. It doesn't really innovate or change anime on a grand scale, but it has some great characters and ideas.
The most interesting relationships in the series to me were Shannon's relationships with Pacifica and Shizu. In the former, his feelings for his (foster) sister vary between platonic and romantic. In the latter, Shannon is forced to reevaluate his feelings for his young ward when she involuntarily betrays him.
In addition to being faced with a variety of interesting female relationships, Shannon is easily the most badass character in the series. His relationships and his rampant coolness are the rationale for providing him with a video of his own.
