The story, it started something like this :P. The next Animecon was coming up here in the Netherlands so I went looking for a song under the 3 minute boundary. (Damn Rulez :P). After weeks of searching for the appropriate song I found 3 songs which could be used. The first was Guano Apes – Gogan, the second was 30 Seconds To Mars and the last was Nightwish – Sleepwalker. Later on I decided to use Sleepwalker for an amv. I wanted to use the movie: Ah! My Goddess, the only problem was that it took a really long while to get my source. During this time I got the urge to make an Amv, but I didn’t have anything to work on. Luckily a close friend of my suggested the song Dry Cell – Body Crumbles which was also under the 3 Minutes. So I was wondering to use this one instead. The only problem was that I wanted to do a drama like video for the Con, and this clearly wasn’t drama. Anyway I thought what the heck, and started the production of this Amv. And now its like a backup video for if ‘Sleepwalker’ doesn’t work out well. The song is a little Linkin Parkish but I thought what the heck, it’s what you do with it what counts. I didn’t have to think long about my anime source for this video, Cowboy Bebop just looked to move quiet smoothly with the song.
Before I started making this Amv I also added a 120 gig HDD to my Computer, so I head enough room to work in. These extra 120 gigs really came in handy because all the material I needed for the production was about 10 gigs.
A little post production problem I stumbled upon had to do with my source. The thing was my source was in 23.976, which isn’t compatible with Premiere. So after a long search through the guides I finally found something I was looking for which was a simple AVS script line:
AssumeFPS(24)
After this I didn’t have any problems with the post production work, and I could start with the editing.
I tried to use some of the effects I learned in my last video (Innocent Rage). I’m talking about the black bars. I used this effect in the first few seconds and didn’t use them later on in the video because it just didn’t fit the style of the music later on in the song. I also learned a new little technique/effect and that’s the ‘second layer fade-in shrinking thingy’, or however you would like to call it. I used this throughout the video, I hope you like it :P.
The reason for this Amv being this fast passed is because I felt like it, and the song asked for something fast so I gave the song what it wanted.
Last but not least I wanted to thank a few people for there help for this Amv:
Niels Wessemius aka Blitz Ace, Without him there wouldn’t be any Amv. He showed me the light, in other words, he was the one who told me about this Song.
Paul Kievits (again), seems like Paul is getting my standard test dummy, he was always happy to help me out with a problem I was having at the time.
For I forget, heres the lyrics for those of you who are interested.
Dry Cell – Body Crumbles
finally recover and the mood is right
looking up into a neon sky
child in me takes over, guess it's been too long
since the last time that i tried to fly
(chorus)
finally i find when i lose control
inside my body crumbles
it's like therapy for my broken soul
inside my body crumbles
all i need's a moment, chance to get away
from the stressfulness of every day
know if i don't question and i never doubt
everything is gonna be okay
(chorus)
i don't know if i'll be alright
is it okay to be myself
why do we always have to fight
now i know it's alright
(chorus)
