- Title: Nene's Game (NES Project 2003)
- Premiered: 2003-09-26
- Franz Keller Metrotransfunk
As should be obvious from the title, this video is part of the NES Project multi-editor project that premiered at AWA 9. The site for the project can be found here- http://www.nhmk.com/nes/
Basically, in short- the project involved taking remix tracks of NES music and making AMVs to it, in many cases incorporating footage/sprites from the original game into the video.
I was part of the original thread where this project was conceived, but unlike most everyone else, didn't really have my eyes set on any particular track. So, I told the coordinator to just give me one at random, and I got this one- Metrotransfunk from Metroid by Franz Keller. I though, "Cool, Metroid. I've never actually sat down and played all the way through that."
However, the rest of my life and projects kept getting in the way, and I found my interest and enthusiasm in doing the video waning a bit. For a short while I considered dropping it, but I hate letting everyone else down, and set about capturing the footage and coming up with a concept. I eventually came up with one, and ended up plowing through the first 4/5 of the video to get to the end of it that I was looking forward to doing. :) Mine is a bit less flashy and danc-ish than many other tracks, but the song just didn't seem to speak to me in that way.
This video ended up being a whole lot of fun to do in the end, and I'm glad I was a part of it. :D
Note: I wish that animation artists would make things based on reality when it comes to geometry. Some of the screens I mapped things onto are just NOT rectangular like they should be....
