• Comments: Mirage of Blaze started coming out on DVD in the US this year, and we wanted to make a sort of advertisement video for it the way we did for Yami no Matsuei last year. Only the first two DVDs are out at the moment, and though we considered using footage from raw downloaded episodes as well, I'm not sure if any actually made it into the video... :-P
  
  Mirage of Blaze is a nifty series (from a series of novels, apparently) about, well, war and love surviving reincarnation. Feudal Japanese war and male/male love, in this case. :-)
  It's animated by Madhouse, and is very, very pretty, and has a fairly complex plot (we keep making jokes about needing a flow-chart to keep the relationships straight, so to speak). We recommend it!
  
  The song we chose (Teotihuacan, by Noel Gallagher, from the X-Files movie album) was 7 minutes long, but being a techno/dance type song without lyrics, we were able to pare it down into the 4-5 minute range without much trouble. There's a lot of rainy atmosphere in the song, which was what attracted us to it for Mirage of Blaze, which has a lot of rainy atmosphere (at least in the first couple of DVDs). The song also had the buildup we wanted. The story for the video is your typical boys are friends, boy 1 is posessed, boy 2 gets his butt kicked trying to save boy 1 and can only do so with the help of mysterious(ly sexy) stranger. It would've been more appropriate for the "teamwork" theme of last year's YaoiCon video contest, but... oh well. :-)
  
  I (Starherd) worked the video out and put it together, but due to technical difficulties for submission to the YaoiCon video contest, we pretty much had to use the iMovie version of the video as a storyboard and re-create the video in Premiere - for which Kasra was instrumental! It worked really well, though, so we might try to continue that way in the future. (Premiere is still a monster, it's just a slightly more useful monster now... heh heh heh.)
