  • Comments: This was my third video, and the first one I did while learning Premiere. I had tried starting this one back when I only knew vdub, but heh heh, that was a lost cause within the first 10 seconds. lol. So I had to get Premiere and give it another shot.

I'm afraid the video isn't all that interesting, as I mixed up footage from a few too many episodes. This was before I had seen many AMVs, so my ideas were lacking, and I never even considered the need for continuity or some kind of story line. I certainly learned my lesson. ^_^

The song is one of my old favorites from an early Phil Collins album, where there are no vocals, just Phil on the drums playing with the brass players he used back then, the Phoenix Horns. I always thought this was a great, fun tune, even though it is pretty short. The song has two distinct sections, each with its own style, and I wish I had managed a better match for the second half. I used Bebop, since that was the first thing in my mind when I listened to this song, and this video might be enjoyable if you're a Bebop fan, but if you're not, it will likely seem more like random clips set to music.

(details you may not want to read if you don't want spoilers, not that there's that much to spoil)
One of the ideas I used in the first section was combining a scene of Ed with her remote control plane with footage of Spike flying around dodging the military satellites. This looked a lot cooler in my head. ^_^ now that I go back and watch it, it's really confusing, and did not have the intended effect at all.

some of the action sync is about the only thing I still like about this one. (other than the song itself) I didn't use many fades between scenes (as I also had not really learned how to then) so I used a lot of sudden cuts, and they did seem to work with the sharpness of the music at times. my favorite moment is probably the ending, which shows each of the main Bebop characters with each new hit in the music. perhaps that could've been a good ending if the rest of the video had led up to it.

overall, I think this is a fun song, and I hope someone will enjoy it. maybe someone with time on their hands will want to look for the song and do a better job with it than I did. ^_^ btw, this video was entered in the Jacon 2003 contest, along with my Kare Kano vid, but this one did not get shown.

UPDATE 15.02.04: this video has been taken offline to make room for my new amvs which are of higher quality. if you are interested in seeing this video, please contact me.
