Made with the following constraints/design goals:
- Use only footage from the first season
- De-emphasize the "mecha" aspect of the show in favor of the characters
- Use long-form scene composition to attempt some storytelling (not necessarily the show's story)
I first watched the show when it was airing in 2006-2008 and it became an immediate favorite. But I haven't been creating music videos for years and didn't have a song idea anyways. It took until 2011 when I heard Ellie Goulding's "Starry Eyes" that I knew I had a match.
Stylistically this video is pretty consistent with my previous videos, incorporating a lot of the ideas and techniques that I used in the past. I think it makes a really good 11th anniversary video.
