The first "trailer" video I've done. This video came to mind when I saw the Star Trek trailer years back.
The fact that all of the dialogue fits each of the characters so perfectly made this idea irrisistable. As for the video itself I actually was tossing around a couple of ideas as to how to approach it.

    1. Make it an actual parody of the original traile rand do my best to remake the original shot for shot
    2. Make it its own trailer using references to the original but more or less make it its own thing

I opted for the second in the end because I liked telling a different story from the original while still making it fit. The only problem this created was the opening 30 seconds of the video where I was restricted to only the first 15 minutes of the first episode as source. Simply speaking Simon could not have the Gurren at all during this sequence as it isn't discovered until later in the trailer. So I had to work with only a few scenes which was difficult since the original footage features a car chase.

After that I focused primarily on the sci-fi elements of the show as it fit teh trailer's theme better to make it fit star trek without limiting myself to the original trailer's source.

Interestingly, the same year I entered this at AWA Haunter entered thee EXACT same idea in another contest at the same con. If you actually watch both of these videos we happen to use a lot of the same scenes in a lot of the same places. Haunter appears to have taken the first approach which I didn't do. Which I am thankful for in retrospect as he uses a lot of the scenes in places I would have had I gone that route as well.
