  • Comments: For quite a long time I've been wanting to make another video. More specifically I had wanted to make some sort of espionage styled video to The World Is Not Enough; but never started anything due to the fact I wasn't familiar with any female spy type anime. I watched Rin back in November of 2010 and had thought, despite the fact that the anime has nothing to do with espionage, the heavy film noir style and themes permeating Rin fit the mood of The World Is Not Enough quite well. At that time I put the idea on the back burner.

It wasn't until the theme of Momocon 2011 (spies and espionage) was announced that I gave serious thought to making the video. However, for those of you unfamiliar with Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, it's a phenomenally violent and darkly sexualized. So I wound up emailing Kireblue about my idea to tell him I had an idea for Momocon's theme, but it may wind up being too violent for the con. He replied back saying that Rin was an overall bad fit for con audiences and probably would be too adult for Momocon. Well, this kind of lit a fire under me to make a con friendly video using Rin just to prove that it could be done (and I think this fact will only really be appreciated by those who've actually seen Rin). It turned out wildly better than I could have expected. The video actually wound up being the opening video of the Momocon 2011 Exhibition.

The plot underwent several revisions as I was editing the video and saw how cohesive it was. At its heart, the video is a revenge story in an espionage setting. However, I left it so that the viewer has to draw their own conclusions about the background and motivations of the characters. As I'm writing this, I can think of at least three ways you can interpret the plot. Actually, it's one of my favorite qualities about this video. Anyhow, having said all that, I hope you enjoy the video!

Also, special thanks to Kireblue for his feedback and to Momocon for generating the motivation for me to make this video.
