ARIA is a series I immediately fell in love with when I first saw it back in 2005. It was one of those shows I never believed in my wildest dreams would ever get licensed for release in the States. To my surprise, it was picked up by Nozomi Entertainment and is finally a part of my collection.

This music video, however, does not use the American release ... instead, the source footage is actually taken from the Japanese DVD (.vob) files which I downloaded way back in 2006! Believing this series would never see the light of day, I decided to get my hands on the best available source of the show, because that was when I heard the song "The Most Beautiful Place" by Edenbridge (from the album, The Grand Design).

The poetry of the lyrics perfectly described the world of ARIA. This slow ballad, along with singer Sabine Edelsbacher's angelic voice, "beautifully" matched the spirit of the anime. Given my affection for the show, this was a music video idea I had to complete.

    LYRICS:

    The Most Beautiful Place

    There the journey will end
The place where my soul can strand
You are what I call Cockaign
And you take away all my pain
The place where all dreams ally
    Gimme wings and I fly

    [Chorus]
    You're always inside
    Wherever I roam
    In my heart
    This place I call home
You're the shine, you're the brace
    You are a beautiful place
You're with me wherever I go

A world where all's in decay
The dream when I'm miles away
    Entrancing you're under my eyes
The floatlight that lightens my skies
    Homeward bound I will return
I can feel my heart burn

    [Chorus]

Fast forward to 2010 and four years later, I finally finished it. So what happened? Real Life! With other responsibilities and distractions taking precedence, creating AMVs had to be shelved. It was only this year, after getting involved with Texas Filmmakers and in preparing for A-Kon 21, that I consciously forced myself to complete this music video and finally release it to the world.

I couldn't be happier. It's simple and short, plus the experience of finally getting back into editing has been tremendously inspiring. I hope you find this video inspiring as well.
