  • Comments: The video that I made while I couldn't make videos. Weird? You bet.
Here's how the story goes: I installed Windows XP Home Edition onto my comp, getting rid of the horrors of Windows ME. To my ultimate horror, doing this made some audio not work; Adobe Premiere, flash animations and movies, PowerDVD, and Sound Recorder. None of these had working audio. Winamp, Windows Media Player, and QuickTime. These worked however. Installing XP drivers for my sound card did nothing, and having no money made getting a new sound no-go.

Editing becomes an addiction, I've realized. Not doing it for a while makes nuclear explosions go off in my mind, so I figured I might as well TRY something before all hell breaks loose in my brain. I went back to my roots and tried out Windows Movie Maker again, but I felt akward and limited by it, having used Premiere for so long.

Then I wondered... what exactly COULD I edit without audio? Nothing? Nah, editing could be done without sound. Then I harkened upon Fluxy's Z-Mind video and after seeing the humorous fansubbed pre-vid clip before the actual music video, I figured I could try fansubbing. Hell, why not go full monty and make the video about not being able to make videos? Muah hah hah hah...

Now for the actual video. This thing's got inside jokes up the wah-zoo, most of them jokes referring to org members. Nothing mean, just good ol fashioned mockery. If you're mentioned in the video and are in fact offended, then as the title refers, "sucks to be yo(u/o)". Nah just playing around. But yeah, if you are offended, then I'm sorry, but the video stays up.

I decided to use Eva footage because I don't know anybody else in anime who whines as much as Shinji does. Maybe some do alot of complaining, but nobody comes close to Shinji and his lack of a backbone. The thing is, in the video, I'm Shinji. Everybody around Shinji could be regarded as org members, although you can't really tell who's who. I never intended to give specific roles of Eva characters to org members.

I had to learn about subtitling before going through with this..... which isn't what I did. I went right into this, unprepared with what to do with subtitles. First, I placed the Eva scene's video and audio. Next, went into Photoshop and wrote down what I thought would be funny for each character to say into seperate PSP files. After realizing I couldn't read the subtitles, I gave them a different color and a thin outer glow. There, that wasn't hard. But WAIT, there's more! :O I found that the outer glow didn't show up in Premiere. So I asked around for how to fix that and AD said to rasterize/render and keep the alpha. Having no clue what that meant, I went around looking for tutorials and found out how to do both. Huzzah, the video is saved.

Lastly, this is the first video using Richard Cheese music. Originality! Woo! ... okay I'm done.

    - Eva spoilers.... kinda. All you really see in terms of spoiling is the end of the Eva series, which isn't saying much. At this rate, it's kinda hard to spoil either the series OR movies. :P

    - This video requires the XviD codec, which is available at

    - Special thanks to Fluxy for his fansubbing inspiration, AD for the quick tips on PSP text and Premiere, and of course, Microsoft for making Windows XP Home Edition, the very spark of this video's existence.

    Adobe Premiere 6.0
    Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Time Taken for Creation: Not too long. A few weeks, at around 45 hours.
