  • Comments: Shin Hatsubai video #73 (AKA Kuroi Kenshi video 9) started out as a combination of some old, necro, deathrash and some old, VHS-from-LD-copy occult OAV bloodletting, so it a way it's fitting that it doesn't look really killer until you put it on analog equipment. This is mainly a consequence of some hellish strobes that don't compress/decompress too well (especially on slower comps like mine). The title is ofcourse a reference to the famous chorus in the song of the same name on Death's album of the same name.

This video was originally intended to use Root's "Prohibition", the bonus track on the 2001 RedBlack reissue of Kargeras, but the lyrics on the verses didn't work with the speed of the bulk of the footage, so it got swapped out for an edited version of the last song on Possessed's 1986 debut Seven Churches. This is believed by some to be the first use of the phrase "death metal" on record. The anime is a three-ep OVA published between 1987 and 1989, which is most famous for being dissed by Watase Yu in one of the free talks in Fushigi Yuugi volume 3. Ofcourse, if you *like* ero-grotesque, it isn't a dis.

Effects are some speed modulation and like four or five strobes done by AviSynth. Nothing fancy.

Shin Hats Self Grade: B-/C+. It's decent, but it's still a gore-obsessed video from scratchy source without much to roll on but bloodshed.
