First off, This video is not meant to be deep, have any story, any plot, or anything of the sort, The only things I was thinking about when making this video, is Cute girls, lots of motion/effects, and fast pace. If your looking for anything more than that, look elsewhere. But if your looking for a fun ride where you just sit back and watch, without thinking about what story this vid is trying to tell, then enjoy :P
The short version
This is a very fast paced Upbeat sorta actionish video with the theme being all the cute girls from various anime. It has no story or plot, just alot of fast sync and flow, and a crap load of rotoscoping. Alot of the masking and keying used in this video was used to help the flow and is used in alot of transitions from one scene to the other. I hope you enjoy it as much as Premiere crashed while making it ^_^
The long version
This video ended up being more complicated than I had originally planned, originally it was to be a quick fun video about cute girls, until I opened AE and figured out how to do some things for the frist time. (more notably the 3d stuff) So frankly I wanted to play with it, so I used it alot in this video.
The opening and ending are the most obvious, but I also used it to create the falling sakura and snow parts during the masked sections with all the girls.
Masking was accomplished by using a combination of AE's Bezier masking tools as well as various keying techniques (mostly color key) wherever they could be used. The most complicated mask section in this video was probably the Mai and Yuichi dance scenes in Kanon 2006, as every frame in that changed and I edited it at the native frame rate to keep it smooth. The other Kanon masks and some of the Haruhi ones were also somewhat time consuming due to Kyoani's fluid like animation quality. Fortunately alot of the Haruhi scenes keyed very well which reduced the amount of actual masking I had to do.
All in all this took me about 2 months of constantly working on it before Otakon, and another month working on and off after Otakon to finish it up.
If you saw this video at Otakon, I suggest redownloading it as alot has been changed and has a much better pacing than the rushed one I had to submit to otakon to meet the deadline.
Notice on Playability:
The local file is encoded at 848x480 in the H264 codec, wich produces a pretty awesome quality for all this action. You will need CCCP or VLC media player and a descent processor in order to view H264 Encoded files. If for whatever reason you cannot watch the H264 version, download the 704x396 version available via the indirect link, though it is not as nice as the H264 in quality.
Audio is encoded 256Kbps ACC and 220Kbps MP3 respectively.
Special thanks also goes to Songbird21 for helping with some source ideas, as I forgot to put her in the actual credits of the video.
