    The Background, Song Choice

One day while walking back home after getting together with my friends and listening to my mp3 player i suddenly got this idea. Why not make an AMV together with KIROV. And since the song playing was Supermode - Tell Me Why, the first idea was associated with it. After getting home and telling KIROV about the AMV (he agreed, of course) the both of us went through all the music on our HDDs (~15gb for me, dunno about him), and in the end we came to the conclusion that Supermode - Tell Me Why actually is a pretty cool song to work with.

Anime Choice, Editing, Audio Cuts and Storyline

Next came the question which anime to use. To me it was pretty clear - i have wanted to make an Ah! My Goddess! AMV for a long time, since the footage of the movie was beautiful, although it was released quite a while ago. KIROV liked my idea, but he wanted to use the second season of the anime, Sorezore No Tsubasa. It was all cool with me. The resolution of the 2nd season was slight bigger than that of the movie, so it was scaled down. Also, the sond was a little long, so KIROV did a great job cutting it shorter. Actually, we used two different mp3s, the second one had more bass, so that the feeling is stronger when the main beat comes in(~1:36). The whole editing process took no more than a week(my initial build was made in a couple of hours, although i spend some more time to make everything precise). The idea for the story came from KIROV when the editing was complete, so we wanted to use the effects to emphasize on it. The story should be something like : Belldandy sees the Keiichi flirting with the other girl, so she gets all depressed and looses control of her powers, resulting in a blizzard over the city. Then she tries to make a curse on the other girl, but Keiichi stops her by showing her that he loves no one else. Happy End :P

    The Effects

I must say, this was the most hard part of the video. 90% of the time on it was devoted to them. All of them were done in AfterEffects 7.0, except for the "lake effect"and some glow at the beginning.List of FXs as they appear (w/o Intro & Outro, i'm sure i'll forget something)
-Brightness & Contrast, Black & White, Glow (beginning)
-3D layers in Vegas, Fractal Noise, Gradian, Glow and Color Correction (Lake)
    -Noise, Starglow, Blur (Memories)
    -Trapcode Particular for Snow (Blizzard)
-Starglow, Blur and some masks (Pink Scene, LoL)
-Glow & Color Filtering in all scenes using the Movie
-Trapcode Particular, Basic 3D, Shine, Radial Blur and hell a lot of masking (Curse Scene)
-Luma key, Shatter, Color Corrections, masking for the spiral (Curse Breaks, fails to cast, LoL)
-Trapcode Particular for stars and orbiting thingies, Glow for the beatsync, some TV FXs and some masking again (Flying Scene)
-Trapcode Particular for lines, Basic 3D, Scatter, Lens Flare, Light Burst some masking again (Shrine Scene)

    Intro & Autro

The idea for those actually came later. Kirov suggested the song (Celldweller - Unlikely/Stay With Me) and concept for the intro and i made it, and i suggested those for the outro (Air - Cherry Blossom Girl) and he made it. Later we found that the vocal in the ending was saying "tell me why can't it be true...", a reference to the song used in the AMV :P

    Codecs Used :
    Lagarith, x264/XviD (for different versions)
nero aac/lame mp3 (for different versions)
Time Spent on the AMV : 100+ horus over 3 months
Time Spent Compressing the x264 version : 1:42:20

last, but not least Special Thanks to

Crafty Shadow & KnX for their beta testing ;)
and prince_of_chaos, cuz he wanted his name here :P

Please dowload the x264 version if your computer can handle it, the quality is better and the filesize is smaller. If youn can't play it be sure to have the VLC or CCCP codec pack or something similar ;)

    LOCAL : 640x352 x264 2000kbps 3pass nero aac 128kbps 48k in mp4 container
    indirect : 640x352 XviD 3000kbps 2pass lame mp3 256kbps 48k in avi container
Note : The indirect XviD version is encoded with 4:3 instead of 16:9 raito, which is incorrect, and since I was stupid enough to delete the lossless encode I won't be able to reencode it again in 16:9, so it is strongly recommended to download the x264 version. If you still want to stick with the XviD one, i recommend correcting the aspect raito from the video player to 16:9 (not sure about the others, but at least Media Player Classic has this option)
