  • Comments: At the end of episode 12, Vash the Stampede seems to have become a completely different person. In this video, he spends that moment thinking back on the past--the recent events leading up to that moment, his current life with his friends, his abilities as a gunman, and the distant past with Knives and Rem. It's a character profile at one of the most important turning points in the series, when it seems like the friendly, goofy Vash that everyone knew was gone.

And this was a bit of a learning experience for me. See, I'm used to being able to record the clips I want, and then see the video clips and listen to the music while I'm editing. But after unbeliable amounts of difficulty, I wound up downloading the more crucial episodes (12 and 17, and 10 for clips of Vash with his friends) and using Windows Movie Maker on someone else's computer. Like most versions of WMM that I've seen, it wasn't completely working; for whatever reason, it refused to play the current project. So I could see the clip, or I could listen to the music, but not both. I hadn't vidded in a while, and this seemed to be my only option, so I went with it.

It took a few rounds of producing, going back and editing, and producing again, but overall, this video went amazingly well and I'm really proud of it. Especially the bridge; I have a lot of clips of violence from Vash's distant past and the present cross-fading into each other, and I basically just crammed as many as I could fit into that music sequence and assumed it would look like crap and would take much re-editing. Much to my surprise, it looked great, and fit perfectly with the music; I didn't need to re-edit it at all.

There's a few clicks in the audio that aren't supposed to be there; I've figured out that problem now and fixed it, but the version uploaded here has the clicks. It isn't enough to bother me, but if you're spazzy about audio quality, you might want to skip this one, or e-mail me and I'll send you the fixed version via yousendit.
