Another of what I like to call my "fun" videos - projects based on a simple concept rather than a deep storyline, and are easy to put together. This concept seemed so obvious that I'm surprised I've never seen it before.
The version of the song I happened to have was from the soundtrack to "Easy Rider", which includes motorcycle sound effects. This went together very effectively with Kaneda and the guys taking off at the beginning of the film. One drawback - because the soud effects are mono, they are badly panned from right channel to center, so if you're listening to a left-channel-only copy of the video, it will seem like there's no sound for the first 5 seconds or so.
I also made extensive use of flopping, to make scenes from the original film match the screen direction of the video. Through scene juxtaposition, I even managed to give the original film a happy ending, with Akira and Tetsuo riding off into the sunset (even if the wide shot doesn't show Tetsuo - the magic of editing).
Aside from that, pretty self-explanatory. Edited in one weekend on my PowerBook G4 12" running Final Cut Pro 5.0.4. Final mastering was done on my PowerMac G5 Dual 2 GHz.
