Comments:
Here we go, my first video; I have to admit, I think it turned out really well. Originally I was just going to use this project to practice my action sync, and not care about originality or a concept; I wasn’t even sure that I was going to upload it. After about a day, however, I had changed my mind completely and was determined to make a quality action amv. There’s even a bit of a deeper concept there: The idea that victory in Advent Children goes to those who manage to go on the offensive instead of just reacting to their opponent.
Notes:
-I used Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 and my fansubbed copy of FF7:AC, avoiding any scenes that had subtitles. I don’t think it detracted from the finished product, though.
-No clear idea how much time I spent on this. 20 hours? It took two weeks, but that was during finals season; most of the work was done on four separate days.
-I tried to make a coherent amv instead of just using whatever scene came to mind first. This may have backfired a bit; believe me, everything in this video has been very carefully edited, and events that seem to follow one another often occur several seconds or even minutes apart in the film; for example, Kadaj looking back at Cloud and then looking forward to ram the “danger” sign at the highway entrance. The one exception is from 1:21 to 1:45; that was a stroke of luck on my part, requring almost no editing.
-Unlike a lot of videos in this style I didn’t action sync to any digital effects; my goal was to keep it “pure.” That sort of thing can be done well, but all too often it just ends up being a lazy way to make the footage match the beat.
-There is one small error in the video, an odd "beep" sound at 2:27. This appeared after uploading and I have no idea how to fix it. Full details can be found here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=68082
The video’s pretty fast paced; I was inspired by VicBond007’s skill and tried to include a lot of details matching the music that you might not notice the first time through. Any criticism/commentary is extremely helpful. Let me know what you’d say I did right or wrong.
Special thanks to Blanco22, Vicbond007 and Fluxmeister for inspiring me to actually try this; it’s been a blast. For all of you out there who’ve thought about making your own amv, I’d highly recommend it.
