My first romance video...well, actually I don't fell it comes off as a romance. Hey I'm no Danielle Steel, and would you want me to be?
Whisper of the heart is a wonderful Studio Ghibli film mainly about Shizuku finding out what she wants to do in life. She meets Seiji whom she falls in love with but more importantly gets the inspiration to explore what she would like to do with her life, which is writing. I don't think you'll get the right feel of what the movie is about by watching this video, I think the video is more of a supplement to the movie. Something you would watch after had seen the movie and hopefully will enjoy.
The song was the bases of this video, and I have never listened to a song so much before starting a video. I just couldn't escape the song, I would hear it at least once everyday at work, however, I am not tired of hearing it. The part about the song that I love the most is the piano melody. I wondered for months about what I could do during the piano parts that would fit the beat. I didn't think I would like the outcome of the piano key effect as much as I did. Which is good because I couldn't come up with anything else, and I felt the piano melodies to be too strong to just leave alone. I knew some sort of effect would have to play on top of the video. I didn't use the piano effect at the end because I felt it was time to calm things down and let you just listen to the melody. Each time I used it I either put just Seiji, or Seiji and Shizuku depending on the clips I had previously laid down which went with the songs lyrics and mood.
Technical aspects of the video went well after Patrick Bohnet pointed the me in the right direction for ripping. I used SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, and (this was the key) VFAPI. All of these Programs can be found on www.doom9.org and www.videotools.net has some nice guides. I actually converted my clips to uncompressed AVI's to stop Premiere from crashing. Though after everything was said and done (not having deleted the VOB files) I had filled up an 80 and 60 gig HD's. Still everything ran smooth enough for me to finish this in a week, and just make the AWA8 Pro deadline. *whew*
I would also like to confess my love for www.musicnotes.com right here, just in case you don't continue reading my extra notes. Which can be found at my site www.morethantoast.com
