At the time I made this video, it had been several months since I had gotten any ideas for a video that I thought would work, or that didn't go bust for some reason. So, when I got the idea for this video, it came along with a flurry of creativity and a maelstrom of inspiration, drive, and motivation. I spent most a Saturday working on the video, physically could not get to sleep that night because I was thinking about the video so much, so I got back up and worked on it, then spent most of the following Sunday working on it. Consequently, this video was mostly done in one weekend because I felt so driven and inspired to make this video, that I did not do much else over that weekend.
This video uses incorporates audio clips over the song to convey a specific narrative. As such, the sung is more like background music. I chose this song mostly because it was listening to this song that gave me the idea, the chorus to be specific. While I am aware that the song has no romantic undertones in itself, I thought some lines of the chorus lent itself well, with some abstract thought, to the situation I place Ryoko in. So, the chorus is the only part of the song that has any importance in the video. The rest is simply background music used for maintaining interest throughout. The video's focus is on the dialogue I created, not the song.
The story inside the video is pretty self-explanatory, so I don't honestly feel the need to give it here. However, the video's backstory is not explicitly mentioned, so I shall divulge it here.
Essentially, this video takes place after Tenchi and Ryoko had a huge fight over Tenchi's inability to commit and make a decision in his relationship with Ryoko. Tenchi, confused and angry, ran into Haruna in a chance encounter afterwards and, thinking that it was over between him and Ryoko because of the severity of the fight, began seeing Haruna behind Ryoko's back. The video opens shortly after Ryoko walks into her and Tenchi's apartment and sees him with Haruna.
The only real problem I have with this video is that in the audio clips at the beginning and the end, the background music is an aural distraction. I tried messing with the settings to get rid of it, but I was unsuccessful. Oh, well.
New XviD encode as of Jan 10th 2003. Benefits over old version: 40 MB smaller, better color clarity and general image quality (although the original MPEG was very nice, being an absurdly high bitrate and all, this encode is still better), and I discovered that I hadn't resized for anamorphic footage in the old MPEG, which is why7 the character's looked stretched out. So, it is smaller, looks better, and is sized better than the MPEG version. Woot!!
