My name is Skye and my "studio" is called Skyebox Productions. I'm originally from eastern Massachusetts, but am currently a biology graduate student at the University of Iowa. I've been an avid anime-watcher for many years, and an AMV creator since late 2001. My top ten shows are listed below. These change almost daily, but they give a general idea of the type of anime I typically watch and enjoy!
I saw my first AMV competition at OTAKON 2000 (which was also my first con experience), and I became an instant fan. After months of going through life with multiple AMV ideas rattling around in my head, I decided that it would be fun to get those ideas out of my head and into reality. At this point in my life, I need all the free brain cells I can get! It also lets me keep the creative side of my brain active ^_^
I enjoy the romantic and the emotional elements of anime, so most of my videos tend to gravitate around these themes. I tried an action vid once and quickly determined that I'm no good at those, although I do make more upbeat, fun ones every once in a while. I also like to draw on personal experiences whenever possible. Because of the general subjects I like to address, most if not all of my AMVs naturally contain significant plot spoilers, as do many of my video descrpitions. So please keep this in mind - you have been warned!
I make whatever comes to mind, whether obvious or different. I don't hesitate to use video games, older shows, unusual music choices, songs that have been used in 100's of other AMVs, or songs that no one has ever heard of. While I don't create AMVs specifically for competition (with the exception of one that I created for Anime Boston), I do submit to cons to show others what I've done. Whether the audience members love, hate, or are completely indifferent to my work is up to them. I always appreciate hearing from people who enjoy what I create - arigatou gozaimasu!
Note: Despite upgrading all my crappy VHS fansubs to wonderfully shiny licensed DVDs, I have no plans to remaster any of my old AMVs. This is not because I don't have the time (even though I don't...) - I enjoy seeing how my work has progressed over the years. I'm a total sucker for nostalgia!
(In case anyone is interested, Skyebox was my nickname in high school ^_^)
