I have been an amv fan for years (even before I registered here), however I didn't make my very first one until last summer. I thought it would end there, however I was quite wrong. I am now up to 3 amvs with 2 more in the works. I started out with Windows Movie Maker. It was useful in putting together a few clips, though exporting was a PITA in terms of syncing my video correctly. Luckily, I wasn't the only one according to others who have used it. From there I indeed wanted to work on a brand new video, but my computer was barely up to snuff to produce my first video. Actually now that I think about it, my Windows *did* completely crash when the video was 98% done. I was nearly in tears as I'd worked a whooooooole 5 days on that video :-P. Somehow I was able save the file, but it was definitely touch and go there with video recovery.
So, I graduated to a Macbook Pro and got familiar with iMovie. Definitely a better piece of software and it did a pretty good job in putting together my second amv. However, this summer I decided to get even more involved in my newfound love and purchased Adobe CS3. I tested out Premiere by making my latest amv. It's like with every video I've made thusfar I've had to learn new software. The good news now is that I don't have to worry about getting used to new software because I'll be stuck on this one for a good while. Currently, I am trying to wrap my mind around After Affects, and it's a lot to digest. Nevertheless, I love it!! I'm really looking forward the the painstaking monotony that awaits me, but if it's the only way I can get my vision out, then I'll do it with a smile. Not to mention it makes me appreciate the number of amazing editors that go through it routinely, dishing out quality amvs that continue to impress and inspire me.
Aside from amvs, I also enjoy watching anime and reading manga. And yes, I think Vampire series are awesome ^_^.
I am currently taking private Japanese lessons (since last year though I took a class in college in 2006). It's totemo tanoshii desu!! I hope to spend some time in Japan myself for a year or something. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to traveling there next Spring.
I have been attending anime conventions since 2002 and I don't plan to stop the trend. Living in the Washington, DC area I am extremely spoiled with local cons (Otakon in the summer; AUSA in the fall; Katsucon in the winter; and Sakura Matsuri in the spring). I have yet to travel for a con, though oddly enough I still stay at the hotels. It at least makes me *feel* like I'm away on a vacation that way.
Anyway, please stay tuned! And if you'd like to IM me, I'd love to chat:
