I've been editing AMVs since early 2005, but I didn't start posting until a few months later - I made four AMVs before I posted my first, and those have never really seen the light of day, which is probably to my credit these days.
Editing inspired me to pursue a career in film, and I'm currently studying as a film major in college. Since I started working with the basics, like low quality fotage in windows movie maker, I have moved up to using 1080p in nearly the entire adobe CS5 creative suite. I've slowed down the pace at wihch I create AMVs, but their quality has drastically improved, and I feel comfortable recommending everything upwards of "A Tale you Want to See With a Happy Ending."
I started participating in AMV contests in late 2007, and since, I have been in the Otakon contest twice, the Anime USA contest three times, the Katsucon AMV contest... I believe three times, and the Anime Mid Atlantic Contest once. I have placed and picked up awards five times now, getting second place for Action in the Anime USA 2007 contest, second place for Upbeat/Comedy in the 2010 Anime USA contest, 1st place for the Epic category from Anime Mid-Atlantic in 2010, 1st place for Drama in Katsucon 2010, and in that same contest, I received the Coordinator's Choice Award.
I'd like to think I am getting to be a fairly recognizable East Coast AMV editor, and I'm looking forward to the next few years, where I intend to spread my videos to more contests.
Lastly, if you are going to start watching my AMVs, I highly recommend starting with "One Day More as Performed by the Cast of Code Geass." Have fun.
