I made no mention of effects in my post so I'm not even sure as to why that was brought up.
Me saying the judging was unfair was because part of the criteria for judging last year was that videos that showed to have long run-on scenes barely cut with little to no effort would be ignored and disqualified. And the video I lost out to was that exact type of video. It was basically one long fight scene with a couple cuts here and there. but the majority of the video was one long run on scene with barely anything being able to be made out because of encoding.
So, when you look at it in that light, of course I feel I was wronged. I honestly think rules for the contests should include No Subtitles logo's or watermarks. It should be a gimme in any contest. It is at cons. All it does to omit that rule is gives people the ok to use pirated material. Drag and rop and hope for the best. That's not editing. That's lazy and wrong.
I'm not saying anyone of don't use downloaded episodes but if you are going to use downloaded episodes at least learn to encode and remove them. Whether it's to allow all skill lvl's or not, it doesn't justify being lazy with your cropping or just very lazy with your video all together. The video that knocked me out was the epitamy of lazy and broke the majority of the judging criteria rules but for some reason was still allowed to pass and move to the next round.
Not to mention that person didn't even edit for the following round. If he dropped then I don't understand why someone else wasn't brought in to take his place so as to not make my elimination the previous round such a damned waste.
I'm not saying the guy was a bad editor, just saying a video that broke the rules from a judging standard was allowed to go onto the next round. That's all I'm saying.
So, yes. I do call the judging criteria into question. Especially when Yue had to apologize to me about it. Yue told me she would do something about it for the rules in the next quickening but I don't see a change in the rules about it at all. Not to mention she also said she would talk to the judges about future videos of the sort. But again, I don't know if that has been done or not. Even Yue admitted it was wrong and I shouldn't have been disqualified but I bet that piece of information was kept from you.
Anywho, that's in the past. I'll give it my all for the non-competing. I won't be as motivated but I'll still do my best.
Just some insight for you Pwolf.

My Issue With This Year's Quickening
2013-05-10 21:09:22
Bet all of you are going to read this thinking:
"Oh boy. Here we go"
But it's not one of those. First off. I've said what I needed to in the threads and won't be spamming them anymore. I just think it's bull to be fucked out of the quickening 2 years in a row. First by incompetent judges who didn't follow the judging rules and I was disqualified by another video that had very poor compression and as a result couldn't tell hardly what was going on, his vid had subtitles....lots of them and huge watermarks and the clips were mainly huge run-on's with little to no editing. While my encoding was perfect, no subs no watermarks and clearly showed that a lot of effort was put into the video. So, of course I would be mad over that. What made it even worse was the person that beat me forfeit the contest and didn't return for the next round. So, I was practically eliminated for no reason.
Now this year. I follow the rules of registration to the dime. being drunk at the time probably didn't help the situation since I forgot to post the 2 lines of Bohemian rhapsody. That's what happens when you are drunk and in a rush to get to bed so you can get up for work in the morning. Even still, I posted the info because I wouldn't be home for registration when it opened. But alas, coordinators and judges don't like to follow the rules, so I'm very sure the judging process won't be biased or unfair at all.
So, that's 2 years in a row I get fucked out of the SAME competition.
I won't be entering anymore. I'll just stick to conventions and the announcement thread. At least I get fair fucking assessments in those places and when I enter a video in those places, it gets accepted as an entrant and as a video that is officially archived on the org.
Have fun at the quickening this year. Lord knows I'm not allowed to participate. That much is clear.

This is one of my favorite kinds of videos. I've been trying to figure out a way to do something like this in an AMV using japanese audio instead. Not particularly with Teen Titans, but something to this effect with a different anime.
This was made with WMM apparently. Though it could use a lot of work, this AMV really isn't meant to be flashy but more like a TRUE fan based video and puts emphasis on a relatioinship instead of the action.
My very first AMV was something to this effect and I think I should do something like this again, soon.
What do you guys think?
