So, by pushing f5 the changes I've made to the script will be "in' the video? And then I just run my compression?

you could try a newer/older version of vdubmod

"f5" refreshes the file in vdub... sometimes i have had issues with it killing my audio, so i end up re-dropping the file in... but if youre using separate audio then it wont matter...

so yea, import the .avs file into virtualdub, and the changes you put in your script should be in the viewer, thats how it works... if you change it you can press F5 and the changes you made in notepad to the filter will show up... or you can just drop it agian into the program

Side Note:

beforeafterline(1,"""filter01.filter02.filter03""")

this is one of my favorite filters, what you want to do is replace where it says filter01.filter02.filter03 with the filters you want to use in your clean up... just be sure to separate all your filters with periods (.) and you can see how the filter effects your original footage (you can use as many filters as you want in here, just not ones that change the size of the video such as crop or resize filters)

this is how the filter will end up looking with the original on the left and the filtered on the right:

Image

WARNING: leaving this filter in your video when you go to render will leave the before and after line in your video as well for example right click and save as that was a test video to see if i would like the filtering i chose on it...

I'm kinda curious as well.... It seemed at first like vdubmod isn't parsing the avisynth scripts correctly when it runs them... are you sure everything is set up with the appropriate relative paths?

I'm pretty sure everything is set up correctly. But, don't quote me on it...

I do have to go now though. Errands are calling. But, I will keep working on it, and get back here with either more questions or great big happy news.

With only the avisource line in the script, try opening the script in a media player.

If you still get a parse error, it sounds like your avisynth is fuxored up.
