I didn't look at the site, however I'd say that making an anime out of Romeo and Juliet will be awesome. Since as we all know, giving the characters blue hair and giant robots makes any classic story better!

Sarcasm aside, it will probably be a good watch, just not something I'm interested in (considering I'm not a big fan of Shakespear anyway).

Holy shit!!! Juliet can FIGHT! 8-)

Wow... this looks really good! I've never really imagined Juliet as a fighter though.

We have any idea who the guy in the mask is supposed to be? (I'm thinking possibly Mercutio...MAYBE Tybalt...but, given the number of creative changes so far, not going to bet as definite.)

I'm betting Mercutio. Tybalt is too much of an ass to be made to look this cool

That trailer is already more interesting than the actual Romeo and Juliet ever was.

Hm. Well my main suspicion from re-watching the trailer is that they're going to have the Montagues and Capulets in some sort of all-out war for power on the floating-island Verona, not just being slightly pissed at each other. That has nice possibilities in its own right, perhaps then turning side characters into something other than plot devices to aid in the development of the Romeo-Juliet irony. That would certainly be an excellent turn of things.

But, really, characterizations are what's gonna make this one great or not. Gankutsuou which I now rightly compare to it won because of its amazing characterizations, especially the count himself who had the magnetism of a black hole. I can't really see either Romeo or Juliet having the same 'awesome' factor - Juliet may, but I'm not putting much faith in that; the red mask dude better be it, whoever he is (one more theory I have is... Paris?). Tybalt had better be not just an ass but a menacing villain. The action had better not just be airy-fairy saber rattling and flying horselizards, although the occasional hints of blood and fire already suggest that it will not be.

I've heard tell of Mecha.

Good going, Japan, as my friend put it.

Still, this might be kinda cool.

Interesting tidbits I found for the series. It seems like the OP song is sung by Korean R&B sensation, Lena Park. And she actually sang a rendition of "You Raise Me Up". And not to mention the OP sequence is really awesome and "could" be foreshadowing spoilers. :o

And from the OP sequence, you can probably figure out who that masked "champion of justice" stranger is.

 wow just the opening action sequence in episode 1 has sold me on this series before it even started ;p

Gonzo is impressive with animating action sequences as usuall. There still not as good as Kyoani at attention to details with background events though. >.> People should be moving more. Kyoani made my standard go up so it bothers me now ;p

I'm so watching this as possible amv material.

possible minor spoiler wrote:you find out pretty quickly who she is and her connection to the little girl in the opening sequence pretty quickly in episode 1. though they do not tell you exaclty about the little girl, it seems obvious if your observant enough ;p

Though I watched it in raw, so I didn't get some of the more difficult convos, Eposode1 was enough to grab my attention to this series. I'm curious how Gonzo will take their adaption of this shakespare story.

Episode 1....oh wow!
- Juliet has to keep up with TWO personas; the rather effeminate guy named Odin who's living in William's estate (you can pretty much guess what Willy's occupation is  ), and the champion of justice, Red Whirlwind.

- The Capulets are pretty much slaughtered by the Montagues. Juliet and what it seems to be Cordelia are the last remaining Capulets.

- The episode ended in the courtyard outside of the Rose Ball where Juliet has finally met Romeo face to face.
They're obviously going to concentrate more on Juliet's point of view of things (because cute female protagonists on anime series ALWAYS sells :o ). And I call forth any Shakespeare geeks out there because some of the characters presented there are also from his other works (I believe Cordelia is from King Lear).

the animation is top-notch especially in terms of details, such as the castle design, im definitely looking into this as a possible AMVable anime, naturally im keeping an ear open to 'tragic' songs whilst watching it =P
