By the way, what did everyone think of the 14 episode?

I thought it was pretty funny.

episode 14 was pretty funny, but in some ways it was unsatisfying yet satsifying at the same time (nothing really helped the ending). the ending keeps punching me in the gut every time i watch it.

Episode 14 is still available for fansubs since it was not part of the original US license agreement. Check the leading anime fansub torrent page that ends in "suki". I'm pretty sure it's still up there.

Well, i just finished watching the enitre series (Like 10 min ago, currently DL'n episode 14, which i hope is not that party episode i hear about.) I must say, the ending bugged me alot. I would have this up here as one of my top 5 fav/best anime ever imo, but uhg.
All Drama seemed rushed, you killed my family, but i had a great month or two with you, so it's alright.
Even When any type of drama happens it ends to quickly, some times even badly.
Is everyone on the damn show a idiot!!! On train on episode 12 or 13, "Heys what the screaming about?" Oh you know nothing, just your daughtered got ripped in half about 3 feet infront of you, blood gushing everywhere...
Mayu didn't seem to be affected by like anything, oh hey, you're on the ground missing a arm, you're eyes are gone, and your' other arm is bent in 90 degree angle..Wanna talk about the weather? Same with the graveyard scene... Stuff like that bugged me.
PSP, it's like cheese you can listen to outside...

I know that I am WAY BEHIND on this subject, but I JUST finished watching Elfen Lied, and I will honestly say that it is one of the best anime that i have ever watched. Blood, guts and violence mixed with a love twist and some ecchi.

I'd say that my favorite funny part is

Spoiler wrote:when the chief's son takes custody over Lucy/Nyu, and then he tranquilizes her in some way, and reveals his plan of world domination with Lucy killing everyone and so they can both rule the world. Lucy was tranquilized as Nyu, but wakes up as Lucy, and she apparently hears everything. then she decapitates him.

I rofl'd so hard.

Also, I'm still debating on who would make a better couple: Lucy and Kouta, or Yuki and Kouta? Both have their moments with him, but its still a coinflip for me.

Regardless, Kouta is a pimp. 8-)

If you look closely at the relationship possibilities in this "harem" anime, you see a lot of moral and culture barriers being expressed. Lucy and Kouta represents the xenophobic nature of humanity along with humanity's fear of the "other", beings who are not of the same group, be it the clan or the culture heritage. Lucy's case forces the issue of "is it okay for one species to breed with another?" even if both partners are nearly identical in everything except for a few physical abilities. If we used another fictional example, would it be okay for a Klingon to interbreed with a human or vice versa? However, for the most impact, you'll have to consider or judge if you find it acceptable for a human to interbreed with an Neanderthal?

Myself, I say live and let live so long as both agreed to it. If you want to have sex with an alien, I don't give a damn. I dont' know any person who wouldn't want to have sexual intercourse with Nagato Yuki, except some girls and a few gay guys, but we can work that out. At this point, I'd like to say that I'm on the intellectual boundary of adding a "burden to society clause". Should mandatory physical exams be made to assure that no disease is likely to jump the genetic gap and potentially devastate the human population or vice versa? When you get this point, if you opt for society, you have to add a layer of diagnostics that can interfere with a person's freedom. What are your thoughts?

Speaking of Yuki, the relationship between Kouta and Yuki is obviously one which represents the moral and sexual barrier of incest, at least in the USA...well, I'll say parts of the USA. I can't all of the USA considering what we hear about red states. Anyway, my own position on it is I don't care. Again, there is the question of society's burden as both inter-species and incest are more likely to produce defective or sickly children.

Next, with Mayu, we see the depiction of the sexual barrier between an adult and a child. Clearly, the anime draws a distinct line and that is that any relationship of such nature is one of abuse. I agree. Irregardless of the consent of the minor, such an act is not morally acceptable. Kouta makes a good example of being a respectable father figure.

As for Nana, it's the whole package minus the incest.

Not to mention animal cruelty. That was the saddest point in the whole anime for me. I wanted to jump into the story and kill all those kids for what they were doing. But then Lucy kills them all and i laughed. I had to.

I agree on that. I wish the end would be different. I heard the manga has more than the anime, but dunno if thats true, but I guess I'll check it out someday O.o
