PAL VHS on US VCR?

Postby blaku92 » Tue Mar 13, 2007 9:48 am

I'm want to capture some footage from a PAL VHS, but I have a US VCR. Will I be able to capture PAL footage played from a US VCR? Or will I have to get a different VCR?

From what I recall, no. US VCRs are NTSC. I've never actively worked with PAL footage, however, since Japan is also NTSC.

To playback PAL tapes you'll need to use a PAL system VCR. Or a multi-system VCR will work, although they are much more expensive. You may also need a multi-system TV or a PAL to NTSC TV signal converter to view the tape on your NTSC TV or use it with NTSC equipment.
