footage is scrambled

of the outlaw star VOBs i checked, this is the only one that does this. it also happens to be the only one i actually need (5 seconds of it)

looks like this after ripping. i ran it through dgindex just to be sure, and it still looks like this.

solutions?

This is a case of the key failing to crack to encryption on the vob.

I've encountered ripped m2v footage from various ps2 games that also resemble the pic posted above. Could the explanation you provided also be applied to that as well? Just curious.

Yes. It's the same principle exactly. They're both forms of MPEG video, if I recall correctly, and so I'm sure the encryption methods are similar, if not the same.

Also, Minion solved this issue by using another ripping program that found the correct key. My suggestion, sayde (nice to hear from you again, you're always a pleasure to help) would be to do the same, assuming multiple game rippers exist. Having never ripped ps2 footage specifically, I don't know how common the software type is.

This actually happened to me on a few episodes of Hellsing. I tried using DVD Decrypter instead of SmartRipper on those episodes, and it worked.
