I can't very well start the game, Rushton leads the way!

Elephant and castle.

Yes, he leads the way right into the shunt lateral I was hoping you'd walk into.

Mornington Crescent!

Good game indeed.

You sir, may have a mountain dew.

Round 3 begins!

Postby dokool » Sun Mar 04, 2007 8:31 pm

It's gray, wet, and miserable outside - just the right conditions for a round of Mornington Crescent.

After the last game, I gave an open call for any rules variations that people wanted to play to be suggested. None were... so we'll use all of'm!

Yes, today's game will be a round of Kangaroo Crescent, where all established rulesets are in play. Additionally, you can block another player's move if you can prove that it's in violation of another rule set. You may view an extensive (but by all means not complete) list of MC variations at http://www.isihac.co.uk/games/mcvariations/.

As someone needs to oversee this madness (plus I have homework that needs to be done), I'll be sitting out of this round as a player. So, someone better take the initiative and get this round started!

I've become fond of Mornington Croissant, therefore;

Hmm, where oh where have our regulars gone.

It's been 20 minutes since the last move, so I'm going to call this game delayed on account of rain. New time and day will be announced when we can find a time more people will be on to play.

It needs to be played in a timely matter? This is internet, delayed responses are the norm.

This is true, but the last couple games have had delays in minutes rather than hours =P

Besides, I have to get going to school soon. If you want to keep the game running, then I hereby grant you the position of High Adjucator of Mornington Crescent, giving you all authorities to oversee a game. Good luck and god save you.

Oh yeah, I was gonna suggest a minor rule change. Considering the japan orientated focus of this site I thought it might be interesting to play Akebonobsai instead. Same game and rules but using the Tokyo subway system instead

It's funny, I've been sketching out a short film script based on the Akebonosai variant of the game for quite some time now.

(no, seriously, I think it'd fit really well with the 2ch culture movement and would be fun to film)

I'll hold off till your ready, you can't very well play without the last winner.

Now that I know full well what the game is all about I could actually picture a movie focusing on the skills shown when someone gives a confident, lengthy, and detailed description of the more arcane rules.

Quite true. And it would be a shame to not have Otohiko in the game, he seems quite devoted to it although some of his moves clearly mark him as a talented amateur rather than a skilled and learned master. I'd like to request that if the next scheduled game is held on a weekend that we start it an hour later though. Usually I don't get off work until 9:30 eastern so I'd be an hour or later.

The only true version can be found in London, but there are literally tons of cheap rip offs that you can find in any city.

Sorry guys, I was/am kinda screwed with work.

How about an un-timed on-going match for a change? (Or else a new time?)
