Your Favorite Convention Panels

Postby NUKE MAYHEM » Sat Jan 13, 2007 8:23 pm

What are your favorite types of panels at a convention?

One my recent favs I discovered at Anime Fest 2006, called "Otaku Hell". It's like MST3K, but live and interactive.
If you got time to kill, come check out the remake of my very first AMV...

Well... I really used to like Anime Dreams, but Yamato (the organization) screwed up this year... Damn, I miss the other place. ç.ç
And Anime Friends... Because international artists come here ad they are great! I hope JAM project comes this year... all 7 of them (Okui, Matsumoto, Kitadani, Kageyama, Endō, Fukuyama and Ricardo Cruz, of course. xDD) *-*"

As an attendee, I tend to enjoy the industry panels - I find the interaction between the anime companies and the fans to be a fascinating dynamic so I enjoy watching it at work.

As a panelist, I'd have to say either the AMV 101 panel at Anime Boston, or my Student's Guide to Tokyo panels at pretty much any con. AMV101 is always fun because all of us are friends and it's a great dynamic (plus AB has awesome tech), and my Tokyo panels are always fun because I get to tell fun stories that would otherwise have no context.

I go to a lot of cons, well, six planned this year, that’s a lot for me anyway, but I don’t usually go to the panels.

The few I’ve tried always start late, are badly organized, and look as though they were just thrown together with no real planning or thought… Maybe it’s just me. Most of the panels I’ve seen seem way to much like the real world that I am trying to escape by going to an anime con :)

The one exception I really enjoyed was the Japan Anime Tour panel at Otakon last year. This was very informative and well ran.
