Is there anyway in vegas 6, to speed up a clip? Is it possible with a velocity envelope?

you can right click --> properties --> and then change the playback rate....

or when you go to change the length of a clip, hold down the control button, and the icon will change. drag it to desired length. (though i've seen a lot of times where speeding the clip up renders as black. I've never had that problem though....)

and another thing you can do is right click on the clip
select "insert/remove envelope"
then choose "Velocity" and a green rubber band will show up

but really any one of the methods will work..

it's not really speeding up the clip persay...it's editing with lagarith clips that can cause a video to have black or blank spots. I had that particular problem myself because I edit like a retard @_@

I like the velocity idea but for speed should I move the green rubber band up or down?

If you move it up, the clips will speed up, if you move it down, it will slow down.
For example:
145% = the clips go faster
100% = normal speed
50% = the half speed of the normal speed
-25% = this will play the clip backwards (with 25% of the normal speed)

As i remember it now. Try it out yourself, you'll instantly see the results.
