although very bad for editing, xvid is very good for your final encode

x.264 is even better, but that requires a little know-how to use effectively

My idea is to just crop it off once the entire video is done.

Don't just crop off a chunk on the right side. You want your video to have proper dimensions. If the fuzz is bothering you, run some AviSynth (or just use VirtualDubMod's plugins, if you don't want to write any AviSynth scripts) cleaning scripts. I would do this before you edit, but you can do it after...I'm assuming you've read this part of EADFAG?

These graphic blips are not there in my HuffyAVI files. They only happen after I try to actually save a video through WMM.
If you look above the guy in the red shirt, you can see a "shredder type" series of bumps on the upper right hand side of him. Trust me, that's on that whole clip.
Another thing that shows up on OTHER clips:
It should be obvious the right side of this video has a bunch of discolouration, and funky ness.
I have Eva and RahXephon footage that seems to come out right. The Utena stuff is my issue.
Again, should I clip this video to remove these issues?
Or should I just go with the WMV and be happy till I can get a REAL video editing program?
