HELP Vegas issues as well as premier

Postby qwertycoder » Thu Feb 08, 2007 4:20 pm

hey all i had a post earlier telling how whenever i dragged or "put" a video in Vegas it would say "media off line". Since then ive reinstalled it and no "media off line" error, instead every time i put a video file in (any and every type) it just loads the audio the video is not present. also since this problem has occurred ive looked for alternative editing software and i got premier 2.0 and it says it requires service pack 2 (which may be the same issue for vegas. anyways i went to M$ site and tried to dl it. It told me i must use int explorer 5.0 or higher. i then click the link to download it and when i was preparing to install it it told me service pack 2 is required. Does anyone have any ideas?

What kind of file are you loading?

Lagarith? Huffy? Or Xvid? It could be a problem with your codecs.

ive tried everything and i just installed nemos codec pack and still nothing in the video side. BTW i can watch all of these vids in a media player so i know that the codecs are on pointe.

if you're not sure how to tell what codec your file is encoded with, get gspot (click the pic in my sig)

drag and drop the file into gspot

windows can be finnicky when it comes to file properties (somtimes it'l tell you the bitrate, codec, length, etc, sometimes it won't)

that's why I reccomend gspot.
easy to use, and it gives you all the info you need (and is constantly updated to recognize new codecs)

yeah i knew someone would use that banner ive seen it before, and i dont like it. like i said before the catastrophe and the reinstall of windows all 750 GB of xvid encoded anime was editable (with good results). so i dont see a reason why not only xvid but every video file imported into vegas doesnt work. these are the exact same files as before so i dont see how a flashing banner telling me i cant do something could possibly help. although i do appreciate everyones input in helping me. Im just frustrated because i have all these great AMV ideas that i could make but cant now.

Have you clicked the banner to read about why you're wrong, or are you just going to stick your fingers in your ears and stick out your tongue all day?
