The Attitudes Of AMV Creators...

This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

you know what I hate? I hate it when a group of amv creators get together to form a website where only their elitest snobish additude is allowed to go..

and I hate it when they bitch here about other 'elitists'... when said board says 'elitist? you bet we are'.

more than that is bullshit, unless its someone who has been invited as a guest for a panel, or somesuch. Then it should be admission, period.

seating is one thing... flat out making demands is another.

Umm... agreed? :?

i read that thread... and i've got to talk to tom personally.
he wanted to originally help out by making the 5th remix. before the others were done with theirs. but the other creators claimed rights ont eh 5th mix amv that wasn't done. wasn't started...

for future refrence.... "BogoSort".... 'you can't work on your next AMV... because... it's alreayd in my head.. and i'm using the same song and i'm going to make it better.... and i'd like to see you make a better video than mine. because you wont. and i hope you fail. and i'll laugh my powdery ass off when you do'.

...'powdery ass'?

I didn't say that he had bad intentions. I just said that the way that he went about it was a bit wrong. Granted the DDR group probably shouldn't have called foul when TommyRude announced his project. However, they do kinda have a virtual reservation to do those at their admitedly slow pace. I still stand by my point that TommyRude should've gone to the DDR project, and offered to help by parallelizing some of the project, and then he would have legitimite gripes about them if they told him flat out no. Last I checked, they weren't forcing him not to work on his project, but rather expressing concern over how likely his project was going to succeed.

And it's funny that you bring up the concept for the video that I'm working on now. Cause the actual concept was to make a bad video that emphasizes many qualities that I think result for crappy amvs... to form the worst amv ever. Cause if it's one thing that I do know about my videos, is that they are all crap.

HEHE!! :O

I'm trying to help out the community by doing those Free opinions in the Opinion Exchange Forum.... And it's catching on with more people doing free opinions! I do this to help the newer people who get into this community make their next video that much better if it needs that much improvement. Otherwise, I would tell them that they're going in the right direction and to keep at it! When they have problems, I point them out and show them how to fix it and what not. We need more people to actually help in doing this to make the community itself that much better! And again, it's all based on personal opinions! Atleast it's giving them some kind of direction for them to look into and improve! Please help the community by helping everyone! :D

*hugs for everyone*
And remember, I'm still doing the Free Opinion threads in the Opinion Exchange Forum!! Remember they're free!!! 8)

I was one of those agricultural kids..-_-..well, I DO live in Ohio. Anyway, I used to raise and show rabbits for 10 years of my young life. Would you believe people who dress, primp and pretty up bunnies act the same way with elitist groups and newbies?? They wrote a book on rabbit and guinea pig standards I tell you! I still never figured out what perks could possibly be had from winning a national show rabbit competition. The bunny is eventually going to used for not much more than an ornament or for dinner.

It's true that where ever there is competition this stuff floats around. But while I applaud that someone is willing to say such things in a meaningful way, as I have seen this kind of taboo subject tends to lead to people walking away either when they see it happening to someone else, or it happens to them..sometimes even when it's just aired out like dirty laundry. Luckily it isn't as perverse in the amv community as it is in the lagamorpha community.

I try to be on the diplomatic edge of it all and this is the first time I have ever mentioned an opinion of it actually. I feel like sometimes respect and hero worship overlap. There are people who are accomplished and that others tend to aspire to. Sometimes when that person may get comfortable in that position and be insulted in ways they wouldn't if they hadn't been so well known and weren't made an example of. Of course this wouldn't happen if no one said such things as "This person is a god because they created the best amv I have ever seen". When I registered as my real name people attacked me for trying to pretend under a well known name...as if I should make up some pen name to enter and write under because that one was taken...I'm too old to call myself some anime character anymore ^_~

I think that could be a turning point and that person is under more scrutiny than before, their arrogance or simple defense could be taken as elitism. On the other hand, there are people who don't fit this at all who just act like an editing genius from the get go.

I had been watching this place for a while before I joined and don't notice a lot of acts of privlege, but when I do, it always caused a rift...as if an invisible mutual respect had been ruptured. They tend to be forgotten but not completely and some people seem to have left as to not get invloved, targeted, or become part of the mob themselves. There is no other answer than to just let it all go, but I just don't see that ever happening in any competitive field.

Wow, looks like I hit a nerve. I was not venting my ass. I prefer to call it talking out of my ass, as I haven't been paying as much attention to the topic as you obviously do. Then again, I just can't ignore a good flamewar sometimes, but I'm a weird one. I've got no vested interest in the DDR project, so this is just my opinion as a quasi-impartial observer. Which really means that I'm horribly biased and that no one in theor right mind should listen to me.

Using someone else's idea as the basis for a new idea is one thing. That's how Mortal Kombat, or Pump it Up were started. Directly stealing someone else's idea and basically taking credit for it as your own would be construed as wrong. What you're doing is akin to releasing your own Street Fighter 5 or DDR 10th mix, because the company involved is taking too long to get up to those numbers. There's an important difference between imitation, and ripping off. I think that your intentions were to imitate, rather than rip off. However, intentions are not necessarily obvious, and thus many people percieved your goals to be simply ripping off the project.

You seem to sense this great injustice because the current DDR organizers would prefer it if you chose a different project. You can still do yours. You can probably even succeed in doing it. You'll probably have no end of headaches in getting people to send you tracks. Hell, even the current DDR organziers might get headachaes of their own when they try to decide whether to do 5th mix if you've already done it and done a good job on it. And then, you're on the other side of the fence. You're the one who has started something an then they'd be ripping off from you.

Funny how you should mention that. I have to wonder how many people actually understand my alias. If they knew what it meant, then they'd know better than to pay any attention to what I say. In case anyone is really curious, one could visit my site http://www.bogosort.org. Of course, anyone in their right mind would just ignore me and never look at the site, but isn't that the point?
