how come i can't use avi files when ffdshow is installed!!

Post by dragonrose44 » Thu Jan 25, 2007 7:02 pm

ok i had the same problem as i did b4. I installed ffdshow from the amvapp and it was working fine. i was happy with it. Without it, i can't play avi. files. Then suddenly, when it came to making a vid i imported an avi file into Windows Movie Maker 2. I drag one of the clips into the timeline n the program autimatically exits itself. It either exits immediatly or a box that says "send error report" and "don't send" appears and i have no choice but to close it. After that, I look at the bottom right corner of the screen where the small icons are, two ffdshow icons appear makin it seem like that was the problem. i move the curser to it n it disappears..

im prolly the only person in which this happens to...

I uninstall ffdsho n then i tried to import the clip into wmm2 n then it says

"F:\Clips\Yu Yu hakusho_episode2.5.avi could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from"

what does that mean??

importing AVI files encoded with DivX and xVid always give errors, especially WMM. try loading them in some other program like VirtualDUB or Tmpgenc Xpress.
Convert them in some other format and then try to load them in WMM.

I say amvapp isn't working in my WMM so I remove it in my PC but you shouldn't remove ffdshow. Try that VDub to convert your .avi your source clips to huffyuv then try it again to import in WMM ;) it will works.

Btw.... do you have CCCP right? :? just want to know..... no sweat ;)

ok i tried to open the clip into VirtualDubMod and this is what comes up:

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3230/untitledyj0.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"></a>

so i tested it and tried to open another avi file like an amv n it works.. for some apparent reason I got this error on this particular clip

am i doing something wrong??
