Problem with VirtualDubMod using mkv files

Post by Shadowfox85 » Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:06 am

Alright, i heard VDubMod was the way to go to use mkv files, so anyways
i imported it, and after its done parsing the mkv file, it gives me a warning saying

MKV: the video may have a variable framerate. If so we strongly advise you to use another tool to safely process your file

anyways i went ahead, made my marks, and started to save one section as an avi (i would then import these clips to WMM) anyways as its saving it as avi, it will run into an error saying

Error decompressing video frame *insert frame it stopped at*
A codec-specific error occured.
(error code 1)

Idk what i did wrong, im using Divx codec for compressing it, is that the wrong codec to use? any ideas?

If you're able to open the MKV in VDubMod without using AviSynth (which it looks like since it gave that error), then select 'Direct Stream Copy' from the Video menu, disable the audio from the Streams List dialog, and then save as an AVI. From there open the AVI back up in VDubMod and cut your clips away with HuffYUV or Lagarith.
