I have to say, after seeing Blind Guardian live 5 times in 5 nights that they indeed, have re-affirmed their position at my #1 all time favorite band.

2-5 as follows in very little partiuclar order:

2. Elvenking
3. Mercenary
4. Nightwish
5. Iron Savior.

On a side note, those of you who go to Metal shows who are mostly into hardcore, metalcore, or EMO.. PLEASE JESUS GOD DO NOT FUCKING MOSH OR CROWD SURF AT OUR SHOWS.

I'd like to list a ton of other bands, but I'm going to limit myself to these. Mainly because I KNOW these are my top 5 and they haven't changed in years.

More recent albums I picked up...

Candlemass - "Candlemass"
Cephalic Carnage - "Anomalies"
Cryptopsy - "None So Vile"
Aborted - "The Archaic Abattoir"
Kreator - "Enemy of God"
Obituary - "Frozen in Time"
Vomitory - "Revelation Nausea"

But these three stood out for me above the rest...

Mastodon - "Blood Mountain"
Celtic Frost - "Monotheist"
...And Oceans - "Cypher"

I swear to GOD if a bunch of hardcore kiddies show up at the BG show in Atlanta, I'm going to fucking kill them all.

And I personally blame Dragonforce.

You can't blame Dragonforce for popularity. You can blame Scene-kids for latching on to something new that was shoved down their throat by a marketing machine.

We also scream, fight, paint our nails black and offer freshly killed goats to our Archdemon of choice.

Yeah, how about you just never go to a show.

What do you do at any show? Enjoy the fucking music. The adrenaline rush you get is all you need.

Come to think of it I've been to "one" "metal" show... but hell I don't even know if you guys consider ACDC metal anymore :\

Enjoying the music and watching the performance is what I personally prefer to do at any show i go to, but i don't quite see the problem Nailz has with people chosing the express their enjoyment of said music by dancing, and if one type of dancing is not proper metal etiquett Is there something you do do?

I mean everyone just doesn't stand there and then leave quietly when the bands done right?

Drowning Pool,(RIP Dave Williams)

I miss him so much. The new singer is a really... uhm yeah he is nothing compared with Williams.

What I also enjoy hearing are my all time favorites "Kidney Thieves". Well... they are no rock or metall at all. More elektronic or industrial.

I think the norms of audience behaviour vary a lot, it really depends on who's on stage.

For my favorite types of music - well, say, with King Crimson I would be surprised (and annoyed) if people had any energy left for doing anything but listening to the music. I know from reading people's impressions that some even close their eyes at KC shows because the music is just too freakin' intense. You can't listen to it and jump around like an idiot. I remember staggering out on the street after the concert, feeling completely wasted despite having sat in a chair for the whole thing.

On the other hand with my 2nd favorite band, DDT, I would likewise be surprised and pissed if people WEREN'T jumping around, waving their arms and singing along to songs at their shows. That just would look like something was very wrong, that band has a completely different energy.

I think each type of music (and don't get me started on how broad or narrow 'type' is) warrants its own norms of behaviour. For the most part these norms are out there for a reason.

Indeed if I went to a very 'hard' band's show, I'd be pissed at the 'kiddies'.

Oto,

Well I suppose that makes sense.

So basically just look around see what everyone else is doing. do that.

Aaaand Back to the topic.

I would like to throw The Boredoms into my favorite rock bands.
