Hosting on your own computer....

Postby Bushido Philosopher » Sun Oct 06, 2002 11:00 pm

I need some kinda guide or whatever to let me learn how to set up an FTP or server on my own computer for my AMVs (and some otehr stuff).

So what do I do? Lead me....!!

Oh, well. It used to work, but I think the article is so old they let it die.

You might try a Google search for "home server tutorial" or something like that.

GuildFTP...

I wrote a tutorial on it somewhere on here a long time ago, so long it may only exist on the old board :\

I've tried out six or seven FTP programs, I'm with Klinky, Guild FTP is the best. it's simple to use and has plenty of features.

Basically, you need to set up a ftp server, and you need to know your IP number.

Upstream/downstream? If you're upstream is less than 160kb, then you're screwed. It will hog all of your bandwidth, and people won't get that good speeds. If 20 people are downloading, then they'll get 8kb download speeds max.
