VEGAS KEEPS CRASHING ON ME! \_/

Post by clawmaster » Fri Oct 27, 2006 9:11 pm

well Vegas keeps crashing on me whenever I load it up. It wasnt doing it before just recently. As soon as my clips are loaded it would completely quit out or disappear for some reason. At first I thought maybe It was the codecs but then all of the clips loaded without any problem. then I try to reinstall Vegas and this problem keeps occuring. so i am getting mad and about to kill my computer but if anyone can help me it would be greatly appecitated.

Are your clips encoded with Divx or Xvid?...
Those codecs don't work well with most editing programs.
They can crash them or just show a black screen.
There are times when they actually will work and then later on they stop working >_<

its actually formated to wmv. i edit the clips in movie maker and send it to vegas to put in. and no its not movie maker that is making it crash cuz i used it to get all of my clips of my amv.

I don't know much about vegas and the formats it uses but it might be better to use .avi insted of .wmv for your footage

Did you have your avi clips encoded with a codec like Huffyuv or another codec?

wait............how does the clips being encoded to another codec help me with this. like i said the clips work. its just the program itself keeps crashing when it loads up everything. the clips work before and after its just the program itself. unless i am missing something here

editing with clips encoded with codecs such as divx or xvid is known to cause programs to crash

yes, clips encoded with those codecs have also been known to stop working at seemingly random times.

they are also notorious for not being frame-accurate (causes all your hard work on syncing to go away)

and don't forget about the inferior quality
