New anime convention seeking AMV's

Postby animeff » Fri Oct 27, 2006 2:43 am

Hello,
I truly hope I'm following the guidelines here. If not please allow me the chance to correct the post to fit them. The reason for my post is I'm starting a new anime film convention that will start to tour the US next January, starting off in Las Vegas with the help of AnimeVegas. The Area's local established convention.

I'm geniunely interested in showing and bringing out as many AMV artists as possible. And would like your input on not only the above statement, but also anything you would like to see on the tour. As this is my first convention, I could really use the input. I will be checking back regularly to see what was posted.

I'm also holding AMV Contests at every stop, for more information on that please visit the link below.

Thanks for your time, and sorry for such a bland posting.

"Each AMV must be in Mp4 format as we are using Portable Media Players to display individual works."

I love it when new cons/contests/screenings have blatantly huge warning signs from the beginning.

Don't put them down just because they don't know what they're doing.

What's wrong with mpeg-4?
If you want a series to be longer just write fanfiction!(but don't make anyone read it)

It's not so much the "MP4" part as it is the "portable media players" part.

Right, PSPcon. Or video iPodcon. It's an interesting thought, though, being able to d/l videos to your player whenever you're at a slow spot during the con. Probably too hard to pull off sucessfully, but points for creativity.

My big thing is there are no details for the con yet. Just that it'll be at the Cashman Center. But the Cashman Center doesn't list it as an upcoming event yet. Hmmm. It's too close to the date not to have the arena on board.

Note to con supervisor:

High Proccessing Computer + VLC Media Player + Nice Projector or HUGE TV Linked Up To High Processing Computer = Win

Portable Media Player + Whatever You're Using For Projection = Disaster

Might I suggest that you push back the con date, and take a look at some of the larger cons for advice.
