Windows Movie Makers Sucks D:

Postby Kiwi Socks » Sun Oct 22, 2006 7:29 pm

For a while, WMM would freeze up every few minutes and I would have to shut it down (taught me to save every step). Now, it's gotten so I can at the very most open the file. What could be the problem(s) and how could I fix them?

And if this is an unfixable problem, how do I change the file to fit a different program?

just a crazy guess here but are you using source files encoded with divx or Xvid and the like? Editing programs aren't fond of lossy codecs like these.

If so go here...

Pretty sure I'm up-to-date on codecs, but I'll try that, thanks!

Oh bother, I read that wrong, sorry.

But before it had been working, and I've been using the same clips.

...that's another reason why you shouldn't use divx/xvid clips.
they might work fine one day, but the next day they'll stop working.

read through that link one more time, it'l tell you how to get around this problem

Yeah I'm not sure why they decay like that sometimes but most of the time they don't work at all.

PS.
